Trilogy 1984
Trilogy released the Life on Earth album in 1984, featuring the lineup of Jon Ryder, Jaime Page and Peter Thompson. This release celebrates that classic ‘1984’ era of the band.
The album has been bootlegged and shared by fans for more than forty years. It has been out of print for most of that time, and not available on streaming services. Many of us have the original tapes and vinyls, but they are also showing the effects of time and becoming scarce.

Why Trilogy 1984?
The Classic Era
1984 denotes the band’s classic era, when the Life on Earth album was released, we played the Deep Purple support, and the band’s legendary run of Friday nights at the City Hotel was in full swing.
Over 40 years there have been a swathe of bands and projects using the Trilogy name. So much so that it was considered generic when it came to the re-release by Apple Music and rejected. It seemed apt to use 1984 in the name as an identifier and to be able to stand out from those countless Trilogys anyway!
The re-release album also has a slightly updated cover that pays tribute to the many headbangers that gave Trilogy its momentum during those classic years.

THE LEGACY
By JP
I believe that the legacy of this work should be preserved and have taken this moment in time to ensure its longevity. It will soon be available to fans on all the major streaming services, with a legacy plan to ensure that it is available to all in perpetuity.
I am sure that fans young and old will appreciate this.
Doing nothing would be a terrible waste, and this music and band was always about the fans, first and foremost. It would be ‘too easy’ (as Ralph Berman might say) to simply do nothing and allow Life on Earth to fade into oblivion.
The album should be available from June 22 onwards on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube and more.

Trilogy 1984 The Crew!
This is also a great time to pay homage to all those that made Trilogy what it was. The beating heart of that band was the crew.
Brian Dentus, Brett Lyons, Bob De Wulff, Tony ‘Wapo’ De Wulff, Ralph Berman, Tony Lyons, James Foster and Mick “Micko’ O’Donnell. So many crazy times with these passionate, talented people. Brian Dentus, Micko and Tony Lyons will be fondly remembered!

It was recorded on an 8-track system with very few overdubs, and in a very small recording room. It was incredibly live. A raw, in your face representation of what the band was live. That made it feel real and probably adds to its longevity. These days we may use dozens of tracks. It would have been fun to have had that option too!
In terms of the songs, Life on Earth and Northern Lights were very much Jon’s creations. Wasting Time and Getting Outta Here largely JP. I was honestly feeling that the period in rock was moving quickly, and that time would run out for our style of music. Ashley’s drumming was an inspiration on The Hammer, Rought Time and Fight Like the Devil.
The songs were largely written in the rehearsal studio, usually Tom Thorpe’s The Studio, based on jams. They came together quickly. The band was incredibly creative and could turn it on with the flick of a switch. Quite honestly, it was on fire most of the time! It felt like Rough Time was literally written in real time as we played it. It is still fun to play, as are all of those songs.
